Gijs has been working at Rosina • Eckhart Attorneys since 1 July 2008. He is mainly engaged in the field of general (international) commercial and corporate law, regulated markets (inter alia energy law) and litigation practice.
Gijs started his career in 2006 as an attorney at an international law firm, focusing primarily on European and competition (antitrust) law. Subsequently, he worked as a civil litigator for a bank, after which he joined Rosina • Eckhart Attorneys.
Gijs concentrated on private (international) law and European law at the University of Groningen, where he received his Master’s degree in civil law (LL.M.). Furthermore, Gijs studied at McGill University in Montreal, where he expanded his knowledge of international commercial law and the French language.
In his spare time, Gijs prefers being productively and receptively engaged in literature, both fiction and non-fiction (e.g. history, philosophy). Gijs is a passionate and broadly oriented music and (particularly European) cinema lover. In addition, Gijs is regularly (actively) engaged in politics and enjoys making city trips throughout the year, having a distinct preference for Berlin, Paris and Los Angeles.
